Brown Finishers

With over two hundred raw product applications, Brown finishers can provide a wide variety of applications. There are two basic finisher designs to consider – the paddle finisher and screw finisher.

Paddle Finishers

Our Model 202, series 207 paddle machine. Also known as an extractor, pulper, finisher, separator, de-waterer, classifier, scalper and refiner.

How it works:

  • Chopped product is collected and pushed upward until it reaches a screen.

  • Upon reaching the screen, a paddle arm circulates the chopped product, and presses it through the screen.

  • The material that makes it through the screen becomes a thick puree with high solids.

  • The leftover material that doesn’t make it through such as seeds, defects, and “hard material” is pushed to the edge of the screen as low moisture waste, or “pomace.”

Screw Finishers

Our Model 2503 Series 2507 screw machine. Also known as an extractor, pulper, finisher, separator, de-waterer, classifier, scalper, presser and refiner.

How it works:

  • Chopped product or pulpy juice is collected and held above a screen.

  • The screw finisher squeezes the product until it liquefies.

  • The liquid drops down and into the screen, allowing a juice of low solids puree to get through.

  • The leftover material that doesn’t make it through the screen such as seeds, defects, and “hard material” is pushed to the edge of the screen as low moisture waste, or “pomace.”

Centrifugal Finisher

The Brown Model 6000 is readily adapted to either separating finished juice from initial extracted juice containing substantial solids, or for separating finished fluid from any slurry containing substantial solids. A built-in CIP system utilizing patented rotary wash nozzles ensures complete internal clean-up.

Multivane Finisher

The multivane finisher is a hybrid citrus-processing machine combining elements of Brown’s screw and paddle series of finishing equipment. Sloped vanes fixed around a large shaft spin product against the surface of perforated screens, expelling juice through the perforations while retaining the solids and conveying them towards the pomace chute at the discharge end of the machine. The close-tolerance vanes are designed to prevent screen blinding while keeping the pomace intact and the large shaft diameter ensures maximized surface area contact between the product and the screens. The vane slope allows the finisher to be used as a high-capacity machine without sacrificing juice or pomace quality and yield.
